AI systems - workflow design - applied automation

Daan de Groot

I turn fuzzy ideas, messy workflows, and emerging AI capabilities into systems that feel clear enough to trust and practical enough to use.

What I work on

Useful AI starts where real work gets complicated.

I like projects where the answer is not just a model call, but a thoughtful system: the right context, the right tools, a clean path through uncertainty, and a clear handoff back to people.

  • AI agents, workflow systems, and practical automation
  • Knowledge tools, research loops, and decision support
  • Systems that connect people, documents, APIs, and review steps
FocusApplied AI for knowledge, operations, and product systems
StyleProduct sense, technical curiosity, and calm execution
Best fitAmbiguous problems that need structure before speed

Selected directions

Places where a well-designed workflow changes the feel of the work.

Knowledge systems

Tools that retrieve, summarize, compare, and explain without flattening the context people need.

Operational loops

Workflows that turn messy intake into structured next steps, clean handoffs, and visible progress.

Decision support

Research and analysis flows that gather evidence, expose uncertainty, and leave a clear path forward.

How I work

A systems mindset with a bias toward making the next step obvious.

Start with the real workflow

I look for the handoffs, exceptions, ownership, and quiet details that decide whether a system becomes useful.

Translate between worlds

I can frame the problem clearly, shape it into a technical path, and explain tradeoffs in language people can act on.

Keep humans in the loop

I design for routing, tools, guardrails, memory, and review moments so the system supports judgment instead of pretending to replace it.

My background spans international business, management, and finance. The through-line is a practical interest in how people make decisions, how systems create leverage, and how good tools make complex work feel lighter without making it shallow.

If there is a system, workflow, or idea you want to make clearer, let's talk.

Send a note with the rough shape of what you are exploring. I am happiest in conversations where the problem is still becoming legible.
